The Challenge
The West Broadway Biz community organization aimed to improve the neighborhood streetscape by adding functional public elements that encourage people to spend more time outdoors. The goal was to create welcoming spaces for pedestrians and cyclists while reflecting the vibrant character of the community.
The challenge was to design street furniture that would be durable for outdoor use, visually appealing, and practical for daily public interaction. The installations needed to integrate seating, greenery, and bicycle parking while fitting naturally into the existing urban environment.
The Solution
Shelterra Inc. developed a series of custom planter benches and bike racks designed specifically for the West Broadway streetscape.
The planter benches combine seating with integrated planting areas, bringing greenery and color while creating comfortable places for people to gather. At the same time, the bike racks provide convenient and secure parking for cyclists.
Each element was designed for durability and simplicity, ensuring the structures can withstand heavy public use and outdoor conditions while maintaining a clean, modern appearance.
